The course introduces a variety of practical acupuncture techniques that use palpation to diagnose and verify the efficacy of treatments. Students will learn how to produce rapid acupuncture effects that can immediately reduce symptoms.
Do I need prior acupuncture training?

Is the course considered an approved training program by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture?
Yes!
After completion of the course, am I eligible/certified to start practicing medical acupuncture?
The individual state medical boards govern the practice of acupuncture by physicians. In the vast majority of states, (the exceptions being HI, MT & NM) this course fulfills the training requirements for a physician to practice medical acupuncture. If you are another licensed healthcare professional (NP, PA), you should check with your individual state board regarding legislation of acupuncture practice.
How is the course structured?
The majority of the course is composed of archived online material that is completed on your own time. The material is in the format of Power point lectures, video demonstrations, and some scientific publications. Each module has an associated quiz. Students must score 75% or higher on average on the quizzes in order to successfully complete the course.
The course is also composed of two weekend (Saturday and Sunday) webinar sessions. These sessions are live streamed and must be attended in “real time”.
Finally, there are two in person 4-day sessions in the Boston, Massachusetts area where students get to practice the hands on skills they have been developing throughout the course.
How much time should I expect to put in to the course on a weekly basis?
We expect students to spend about 6 hours on a weekly basis on course material, including individual study time.
Are there additional costs to the course?
Travel and hotel costs are not included in the course tuition. In addition, there are some recommended reading materials that are not included.
Is acupuncture covered by insurance? How do I bill for acupuncture?
As of January 2020, Medicare now covers acupuncture for chronic, non-specific lower back pain. Many commercial health insurance plans are beginning to offer acupuncture benefits. There are a variety of reimbursement models for acupuncture. Our course will cover these and some practice management guidelines to help you get started upon course completion.
